about me
iro iro at home is based in the north-east of Japan where the year starts in the middle of the harsh winter. The spring that is slow to follow dazzles when the garden comes to life in May. Summers are hot, and the air is heavy, but by early September cool breezes let us breathe again, and the autumn that follows is breathtaking.
It is here that I’ve created a lifestyle for myself making the best of everything around me at the time and using the ‘iroiro’, the various, to experience, learn, improve, and teach. My iro iro isn’t focused in one particular area, though there are overlaps creating a richness to satisfy all the senses while not breaking the bank.
Spanning the various aspects of my life, 'iro', colour, is very much a main theme of iro iro at home. Whether it is in the garden, kitchen or workshop, colours play an important part, and though I can most likely be seen wearing black trousers and T-shirt, working with colours to their best advantage and creating something from that is the cornerstone of my work.
